On the course: the most attractive places in the valleys of the Vistula and its tributaries in Małopolska
The cycle route which is being built on the Vistula in the region of Małopolska will be the first of its kind in Poland. The Vistula Cycle Route substantially enhances the comfort of bicycle tourism. Spanning over wide swathes of Poland, this route makes it possible for cyclists to traverse the whole country: from the springs of the Vistula to the Baltic Sea. The Małopolska section has been built in accordance with the highest European standards; it has excellent markings and bicycle service points [MOR] and stretches over the most picturesque areas of the Vistula valley. The new tourist cycle route starts off in Jawiszowice. Then the route leads through Oświęcim and Skawina, passes by the famous Benedictine Abbey in Tyniec, goes through Kraków along the Vistula Boulevards, passes right alongside Niepołomice and gives an opportunity for cyclists to branch off and visit charming and colourful Zalipie, a few kilometres away from the route itself. After over 230 kilometres, the route finishes in Szczucin. Despite the still unfinished construction works, even in its present state, the VCR provides an excellent option for spending leisure time, not only for seasoned cyclists, but also for recreational cyclists, families with children, seniors, i.e. for absolutely everyone who wants to enjoy active leisure time outdoors, far from the urban hustle and bustle, surrounded by nature. In fact, what distinguishes the Vistula Cycle Route from other cycle routes is the slight incline of the terrain for the vast majority of the route and its remoteness from urban areas. Additionally, it is professionally marked, including original surface markings, and features plenty of heritage sites lying either on the route itself or in its immediate vicinity. What more could you wish for? All you need to do is set off on the route.
