Although the diving spots in the Małopolska region are not numerous, but they are very interesting.

The flooded limestone quarry of Zakrzówek, located in the area of Kraków, is considered one of the best places for underwater activities. Although the reservoir is quite small, it is deep (31 m), and thanks to the extraordinary transparency of the water it offers an unforgettable underwater experience. Additional attractions are offered by sunken rock walls and withered trees. At the bottom you can find car wrecks and other objects. Despite the vertical walls surrounding the banks, there is a gentle descent into the water ensured by the flooded road, used in the past to remove the spoil. The lake in Zabierzów was also created on the site of a former quarry. The reservoir is very small, 6 m deep, and has little water transparency. Its attractions are huge stones lying on the bottom. Another flooded quarry, called Balaton, is located near Trzebinia. The water here is 10.5 m deep, and its transparency is much better than in Zabierzów, although not as good as in Zakrzówek. Here as well you can see at the bottom a lot of sunken objects, including sailboat or wagon and tracks of gauge railway, which was used to remove the spoil. Also the artificial lakes formed on rivers are suitable for diving. Unfortunately, their water transparency is by default very low. Lake Czorsztyn (up to 25 m deep, visibility under water up to 8 m) offers quite good diving conditions. However, you have to watch out for sunken branches and its bottom is covered with a layer of silt. The obligatory diving licenses can be obtained in several diving clubs and schools.
